1. Special Election is Today

Voters who live in State House District 15 today have the opportunity to vote in a special election to fill the seat formerly held by the late Rep. Calvin Hill.  If you’re unsure whether you live in the District, check online: http://mvp.sos.state.ga.us/ or call the Elections Office at 770-479-0407.. 

There are four candidates, one of whom is a CCSD employee: Creekview High School teacher Meagan Biello.  Information about all of the candidates is online:  http://www.fultongop.org/default.aspx

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at all District 15 precincts; the precincts include two CCSD schools: Hickory Flat ES and Macedonia ES.  Supervisors of CCSD employees are reminded that they must allow employees time to vote.   


2. Cherokee County Educational Foundation IMPACT Educational Grants Application Deadline is Monday

Monday is the deadline to apply for the Cherokee County Educational Foundation’s first-ever IMPACT Grants supporting innovative and creative ideas in teaching and learning in CCSD.

The Foundation recently doubled the amount of funding available from $5,000 to $10,000.  The Foundation will fund IMPACT Grants of as much as $2,500 per winning proposal; applications must be postmarked by Monday, Jan. 13, 2014.  The grants will be presented to winning applicants on Feb. 14, 2014. 

Applications may be submitted by CCSD teachers, paraprofessionals and school staff; teams of CCSD teachers, paraprofessionals and school staff; CCSD administrators; or CCSD department heads.

The application and guidelines are posted on the Foundation’s website at cherokeecountyeducationalfoundation.org.

3. Car Giveaway Drawing Entry Deadline is Wednesday, Jan. 15

Bill Holt Chevrolet has extended the entry deadline for its giveaway of a new 2013 Chevy Malibu LS to a CCSD employee to Wednesday, Jan. 15.  This giveaway drawing is limited to CCSD employees with CCSD ID badges; to enter, visit the dealership at 250 Liberty Blvd. off Riverstone Parkway in Canton (30114) and complete an entry form.  There is no cost to enter the drawing.  The prize does not include tax, title, tag and document fees; the winner shall grant permission for his or her likeness to be used in advertising for one year from the date of drawing.  Please note that this is not a CCSD-sponsored event, but an offer from a business that supports CCSD and all that you do!
