Re: Christian Science Comments

Dear PV,

Your statements on the Christian Science religion you made in your most recent Political Vine were wholly untrue and false. Christian Science is classified as the rediscovery of primitive healing.

Christian Scientists do not believe that everything is just "God's way and intent" and if you die, then that is so-called "God's way." Christian Scientists have a very personal relationship with God, and we do not persecute others like some religions. We choose to practice preventative care through prayer so we do not need medication, doctors or hospitals.

There are documented healings through Christian Science of all sorts of ailments, from the common cold to broken bones to infectious diseases. Also, some Christian Scientists will see a doctor if they feel that they are unable to fully heal themselves through prayer, and that is their choice (one that is not looked down upon by other Christian Scientists, I might add).

It is apparently obvious that you have either done no research at all on Christian Science and do not know enough about it to make a coherent argument against it, or you all are fearful of it. Whatever the case may be, feel free to stop in to your local Christian Science church (there is one in Marietta on Old Sewell Road) before you go an attack the values of a religion of which you know nothing about.

You may not only be surprised at how welcome you are, and how willing the members will be to speak with you and answer questions you may have, but also to the fact that we are not as radical as some would like to make us out to be. I appreciate your time in reading this, and I enjoy receiving your publication (although we do not agree on everything), but please be careful to do the appropriate research so you may be able to make a more educated comment in the future.

Respectfully,
