House District 54: Stupid Is As Stupid Does

Rumors have it that Jim King is trying to wed his losing candidacy to the winning campaign of Johnny Isakson.

In a mailpiece sent to the district last Friday, King has a page titled "We Believe Jim King Makes The Difference" and he appears in various poses with various people with various quotes of support.

One person he is not pictured with is Johnny Isakson. However, the piece contains a quote from Isakson: "Let me tell you, we need more fine young Republican candidates like Jim King running for public office."

The use of this quote produces two BIG problems for King: 1) It was not made by Isakson on behalf of King for this race, and 2) it succeeds in pissing-off the Isakson campaign by making it look like they have endorsed King in his runoff against Ed Lindsey. Isakson has not taken any position in this race, either in the primary or the runoff. (Yes, Riley, we checked. Do you think you should have before mailing this out? Hmmm...doesn't look like "clean campaigning" to us...)

Now, note that the quote contains the phrase "young Republican candidates." This quote was made back when King was running for State Senate in 2000...when King was, indeed, a "young Republican."

But, today, Jim King is approximately 43 years old. Not quite an "old man," but certainly not a young man, and certainly not someone who would be considered a "young Republican."

Using a 4-year old quote makes King look like he is grasping at straws. It also indicates to us King has a sick, feeble mind and should be beaten 65% to 35%, at minimum. And, after he gets beaten, he should go running back to his two pimp daddies from which he came, Democrat Lewis Massey and Democrat Pierre Howard. We have enough RINOs in the party...time to start hacking-off their lifelines with a well-sharpened machete.

Senate District 37: John Wiles vs. John Edwards

The choices for State Senate District 37 come down to two people: John Wiles, a former Republican state representative, and John Edwards, a trial lawyer, and a supporter of many left-wing causes.

Now, you may be sitting there thinking that the Vine has lost its way, and we made a mistake by including "John Edwards'" name in the discussion. We didn't. Wiles' physical opponent is named Lance Cooper, but, for all practical purposes, the voters should consider him to be John Edwards.

Let's look at Cooper's campaign contribution history. From an analysis performed by West Cobb Republican Activist Taylor West, we find that 92% of Lance Cooper's campaign contributions have gone to liberal Democrats. These include $2000 to John Edwards for President, $2250 to Max Cleland for U.S. Senate, $2250 to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, $1000 to former State Senator Charles Walker (currently under a 142-count federal indictment), $2000 to Denise Majette for U.S. Senate, $10,000 to Roy Barnes for Governor, $1000 to Rick Crawford for Congress (against Phil Gingrey)...and, this list could go on forever.

Now, Cooper is, we admit, quite a bit on the slick side. He has an image/campaign consultant who has coached Cooper on all the right things to say and all the right people to glad-hand with. He's taken an oath to protect the "sancity of life" by pledging to uphold the Georgia Right To Life's stance on abortion.

The trouble with Cooper is that his actions do not back-up his words. You cannot be for "the sancity of life" if you give financial support to individuals who are pro-choice or pro-abortion. John Edwards is pretty pro-abortion. In fact, on the partial-birth abortion bill in 2003, which came up twice during 2003, John Edwards conveniently did not cast a vote on the bill. NARAL gives Edwards a 100% rating, while National Right To Life Committee gives Edwards a ZERO PERCENT for the times he has voted with their cause.

Cooper can claim all he wants to about being a pro-life conservative at the state level, but he must know that abortion is a federal issue, and anything decided at the federal level will trump anything at the state level. So, IF he was telling the truth about his abortion stance, then he is either naive or plainly too stupid to understand that if the left-wing candidates that he supports at the federal level get elected, they can nullify ANYTHING passed at the local level.

(As a note, the Georgia Right To Life recently modified their stance on this race. They now endorse John Wiles.)

Now, we are not saying that "abortion" should be the issue in this race. We are saying that honesty and integrity should be the rule of the day. We don't believe Lance Cooper is naive or stupid to say one thing, then throw money behind people that are on the complete opposite side of the issue.

We believe he is a pathological liar and disingenius in everything he claims to be. And, for this reason alone, he should not be elected to represent the people of the 37th senate district.

Gwinnett County: The W-T-F County!?!?

Rumors have it that hot on the heels of Governor Sonny Perdue's endorsement of embattled incumbent county commission chairman Wayne Hill last Thursday, 7th District Congressman John Linder has endorsed 3rd commission district candidate Dwight Harrison in his runoff race against grassroots campaigner Mike Beaudrieu.

According to a Gwinnett County blogger, Linder is endorsing Harrison via recorded phone messages.

These endorsements are just a bit on the odd side. They are odd because both Wayne Hill and Dwight Harrison have raised and spent beaucoup dollars in their respective races, yet they remained on the brink of disaster so badly that they had to call for reinforcements via endorsements by other elected officials.

That certainly doesn't say much for the qualifications or skill that Landmark Communications, Dwight Harrison's general political consultant, has for defeating an underfunded candidate, does it?

Actually, we kinda suspect that Congressman Linder was approached by Brett Harrell, former mayor of Snellville and current Executive Director of the Highway 78 Community Improvement District, to come in and save Harrell's face after Harrell has been busting his rear-end to elect Harrison. As of late last week, Harrison must have still been far behind in the polls. And, if Harrison loses, Harrell loses. BIG.

We'll let you know the results after Tuesday...

Congressional House District 8: PV Takes Sides And No Prisoners

We've hemmed. We've hawed. We promised to not publicly take sides in the Sixth District race. We have made no such promise in the Eighth...and we're now fed-up enough with the Lynn Westmoreland campaign to weigh-in.

We've seen Westmoreland's TV ad against Dylan Glenn where the word "Loser" is stamped over the face of Glenn after he experienced two losses in his back-to-back campaigns for Congress.

Now, let's ponder this for just a moment. Dylan Glenn was running as a Republican, trying to win a seat for the Republican cause in a South Georgia district. And, he lost both races. So, for investing his time and whatever little personal wealth he had at the time to campaign for these two seats, we now have a jerk like Lynn Westmoreland proclaiming Glenn to be a "Loser" for trying to defeat Democrats?

The fact is that Westmoreland is an uneducated, illiterate hillbilly who MIGHT be better suited to represent a district in Arkansas than a district in Georgia. He barely passed high school, and scored so low on the SATs that they had to revise the scale in order to give Westmoreland a positive score. Westmoreland is the finest example we can think of to the testament of the abysmal quality of Georgia's K-12 school curriculum.

Calling Glenn a "loser" is tantamount, in our eyes, to using the N-word against Glenn. And, we suspect that THAT is exactly what the Westmoreland campaign was thinking about as they wrote that commercial.

Dylan Glenn is a hero for trying to run for office against Democrats. Westmoreland is a lousy bucket of chickenslop to attack Glenn, not on his record, but for coming in 2nd place for the Republican cause.

Wow! Wonder what Westmoreland says to his kids when they don't win? "You're a loser! Go to bed without your dinner!" What a fine example of leadership Westmoreland represents. (NOT!!!!)

If the majority of the people of the Eighth are anything like Lynn Westmoreland, and this yahoo gets promoted to Congress, then perhaps they should build a wall around the district and post signs that say: "WARNING. IQs Greater Than Outside Air Temperature Are Not Allowed. For The Dumbing-Down Process, Make An Appointment With Lynn Westmoreland."
