Say "Sayonara" To Evolution Stickers...

Rumors have it that U.S. District Court Judge Clarence A. Cooper has made a ruling on the Cobb County School Distict case regarding the validity of a sticker being placed on science textbooks that read "This textbook contains material on evolution. Evolution is a theory, not a fact, regarding the origin of living things. This material should be approached with an open mind, studied carefully and critically considered."

Judge Cooper has ruled that labeling Evolution a "theory" played on the popular definition of the word as a "hunch" and could confuse students.

In his ruling, Cooper wrote "The school board has effectively improperly entangled itself with religion by appearing to take a position [in the debate between Christian fundamentalists and people who can think outside-the-box of religious fundamentalism]...Therefore, the sticker must be removed from all of the textbooks into which it has been placed."

PV's Commentary: We wryly note that Judge Cooper did not suggest that Evolution was a "buzzword" as our State School Superintendent, Kathy Cox, believes.

Now, if you want to know which of our elected leaders are the "fundamentalists", look for the folks in state office and the state legislature who will decry the ruling as "an act of an activist judge who should be impeached...blah-blah-blah".

In response to this, we've heard that the Cobb County School Board is looking into having a computerized message placed on every laptop that they seek to buy for the county that flashes a message to the students at random times: "Evolution is a theory that is anti-God. Kill anyone who disagrees with you on this point. They are infidels and are not good for society..."
