There's A Lot Of Silver Lining In this Outcome If We Look

Monday, January 13, 2003

Rumors have it that the 20 "committed" (by "committed" that meant signed and faxed statements of support for Larry Walker) Dimocrats called Governor Perdue this morning and told him they could not, and would not, support Walker for the Speakership.

Larry Walker reportedly withdrew his name from the race and Terry Coleman was elected. Republican House Member Terry Barnard reportedly was the only GOP vote recorded for Coleman.

PV Offers The Silver Linings To Consider:

1) We still have the House to blame for things that get gridlocked.

2) We keep saying we wanted a two-party state...we have it now.

3) Some of the nuttiest legislation offered by nuts like Bobby Franklin (your gun stuff is good, Bobby, but you're overboard a lot of other things) won't see the light of day, even in committee.

4) House Whip Jerry Keen will learn firsthand how ineffective he is compared to former Whip Earl Erhart. And all of those Republican liars who gave Earl their word they would vote for him the morning of the House Minority Whip election, then turned around and voted for Keen in secret ballot, will also learn the difference between a "leader" and a phoney-baloney nutcase (but, they'll never admit it. Liars never do. Especially the fruitcakes we have in the House.)

It's gonna be an interesting Session...
