Re: PV's Slam on State Representative Bobby Franklin

Thursday, January 16, 2003

Bobby Franklin is a courageous, consistent and creative member of the Georgia House. There is absolutely nothing "nutty" either about him or his legislative practices.

I'm sick of so-called Republicans who vote for the budgets of the Democrats every year (like my liberal representative Fran Millar). I'm sickened by so-called Republicans who do not take seriously the human life of pre-born babies (contradicting the party platform -- which is obviously to them mere window dressing!).

You guys ought to stop bad-mouthing Bobby and support him! After all, he managed to get elected without any help from the party.

PV Gets To The Facts: Look, if you want to abolish abortion, then encourage your legislators to abolish it and be done with it.

Pass a law that bans abortions in this state, and Planned Parenthood will sue on it being "unconstitutional" and then let the case go up to the Supreme Court to be decided. Right now, there are 5 judges up there that everyone considers to be "pro-life," so let's see what they will decide to overturn Roe v. Wade.

The way Bobby Franklin wants to do things is have a court assign a guardian for the fetus of any mother who wishes to have an abortion, and have a jury trial to determine if an abortion is warranted.

Oh, this is an outstanding Republican idea (not!). More government intrusion on people's personal lives and decisions. If a legislator who proposes more government control over individuals counts as something that is "courageous" in your eyes, then one of us is not in the right political party.

If Bobby Franklin had any real guts, he'd just leave the Republican Party and publicly join the Constitutional Party because their preamble and platform is the one he truly believes. For that matter, he can take a lot of other misinformed Americans right with him.
