Rumors have it that Governor Sonny Perdue issued an Executive Order today that orders the suspension of Fulton County Sheriff Jackie Barrett for the period of 60 days, effective Monday, July 26.
PV Sez: It's about freakin' time. And, it's amazing that the Attorney General of Georgia, Thurbert "Thumpin'" Baker, did not step in to prevent this suspension. Had it involved any comrade of Billy McKinney, we're pretty sure Baker wouldn't have gone along with this.
But, apparently, the investigation into Barrett's misuse of county funds, her ineptitude in securing the county jail, and her all around incompetence as an elected official produced enough evidence against Barrett that Baker's personal inclinations to protect a fellow Dem, or a fellow elected black official, could not be sustained.
