Well, it's that time again. Disclosures are up for the Court of Appeals run-off, and we weren't too far off in our estimates of how much more money Howard Mead would put into his race.
His recent disclosure, which, by the way, was uploaded 4.5 hours after the legal deadline (we smell an ethics complaint for Marc Hershovitz to make some money on arguing that being late by 4.5 hours is okay) shows Mead raising a total of $600,750 since the last election disclosure. Of this amount, Mead loaned himself $585,000, making his total loans to his campaign a whopping $2.885 Million...all for a job that pays $150,000 per year. Eleven other entities contributed money to his runoff.
Debra Bernes, who filed her disclosure 40 minutes before the legal deadline has raised $75,141 from 248 contributors since her last disclosure. She has $91,000 available as cash on hand.
Bernes has put her money into GOTV signage all over the state. Mead has dumped $523,000 into TV media buys, and $80,000 in phone banking calls. He has $85,000 cash on hand...available for all kinds of last-minute tricks.
Get Up, Get Out, Get Movin' to Git-er-Done!
It's going to be a 72-hour ground war in GOTV efforts for both sides. The drop-dead date to vote on this historical election is this Tuesday, November 23, 2004. If you have not yet voted, and are legally able to vote, just remember this on Election Day: Get Up out of bed, Get Out the door early, and Get Moving down the road to vote!!!
