State House 106 Run-Off Results

In a race that could aptly be described as David vs. Goliath, Goliath (with the finances and support of the Gwinnett GOP machine and the finances and support of people like Speaker Glenn Richardson, Congressman John Linder, Sheriff Butch Conway, District Attorney Danny Porter and Senator Renee Unterman) won his race...but not by much.

The unofficial and incomplete results, according to Gwinnett County Board of Elections:

Melvin Everson: 1337
D. Warren Auld: 1310...a squeaking difference of 27 votes.

Considering that Everson out-raised Auld by a factor of around 2:1, and the final tally separates the two by a mere 1.02%, we 'd say the GOP machine ain't all that it's cracked-up to be out there in 'yonder Gwinnett, is it? Had this been a regular primary run-off, rather than a special election, results could have been vastly different. We predict Everson will have some primary opposition next year.

One semi-interesting sideshow that we observed through examination of the disclosures is something we're going to dub The War of The Untermans, named for the apparent war going on between Senator Renee Unterman and her former husband, Dr. Marc Unterman.

Senator Unterman, you see, backed Melvin Everson, and contributed $1000 to that campaign. Mr. Unterman, upon seeing that donation, and, though he never met Auld, nor was he solicited by Auld, decided to contribute $500 to Auld.

We bet there will be more chapters of the War of The Untermans to see in future races.
Special Memo To GOP House Caucus

Subject: State Rep. David Graves

For a Caucus that prides itself on crowing and promoting "family values," you guys are officially starting to make us sick to our stomachs in your complete inability to deal with Graves. What the ---- is the problem here???

Here's a guy who is the Chair of Regulated Industries, a committee that regulates the alcohol industry. And, he's been arrested for DUI how many times? Two...three...ten...?

Now, because of a DUI earlier this year in Cobb County during the 2005 legislative session, his defense to the Cobb County judge is "You can't prosecute me because it was during the legislative session and I'm protected by the Georgia Constitution."

So, okay, maybe he is, maybe he isn't. We don't care if Cobb County finds him guilty or not...YOU folks have a DUTY yourselves to act, and all you do is sit around in a state of "DUI? Who? What? Who's coming to my fundraiser?"

We estimate that there are three basic types of people in the Georgia State House at the moment: Leaders, Followers, and people who are threatened with what committee they can or cannot sit on if they DARE speak publicly about this matter, though they are just as pissed as we are. Same goes for DARING to file a written complaint to the House Ethics Committee.

Here's what we figure: The reason why the Leaders aren't speaking-out is because Graves knows all of the sordid dope on them and all of THEIR personal vices. That's right. The married legislators who sleep around with lobbyists and interns, and the single legislators who sleep around with other legislators' wives, lobbyists, and interns.

Here's a thought for you all to console yourselves with: The longer you go with failing to throw this idiot OFF of the committee of which he is chair, the better chance each of you will be in jeopardy for reelection next year. That's not a threat from us. That's going to be a fact of circumstances.

Because, if you all continue to sit around with your thumbs up your rears in a state of See No Evil, Speak No Evil, Hear No Evil, all any future opponent has to do is point out that you did nothing to signal to the state that you disapproved of the actions of Graves. And, by ignoring the problem, you give tacit approval of his actions.

So, the next time he is caught while driving under the influence, sometime in-the-not-so-distant-future, after he's KILLED/MAIMED AN INNOCENT BYSTANDER, perhaps you "leaders" might get a clue about your associate. Get the picture? Or, are you all too consumed with the amount of money you can raise and the number of hotties you're going to be able to bed next session...or, the affairs you are currently carrying on?

Get off your freakin' asses and take this serial-lawbreaker out as best you can...and, the very first thing you are in 100% complete control over is what committee he is in charge of. Continue to allow him to sit there, and whatever blood ends-up on this jackass's hands will also be on yours. All of yours.
Cobb County GOP (aka "What A Shining Example of What Happens When A Compost Heap Is Put In Charge of A County Party")

Rumors have it that at last Saturday's State Committee meeting, Cobb Countian Sue Everhart stood-up and made an apology to the gathered throng about the embarrassment that current GOP county Chair Anthony-Scott Hobbs ("ASH") is causing the GOP. (Please note: Sue is NOT in charge of anything in the GOP, nor does she have any control over ASH).

Seems that the brilliant Mr. Hobbs has taken it upon himself to invite the Georgia Commissioner of Agriculture, Tommy Irvin (D) to come out to the Cobb GOP Breakfast this Saturday, October 1, to chat with the county GOP about "food safety" in Georgia. Another guest from Publix Supermarkets is also supposed to speak at the breakfast.

PV 'Splains The Problem: Ya see, the Republican Party of Georgia is set-up to be a partisan political organization. It's purpose is to promote and elect Republicans. Meaning, if you want to invite guests who can speak on Republican-related topics, invite any and all you wish to invite.

But, if you want to act like the "Republican Rotary", or the "Republican Civic Club", do it on your own time and do not use the GOP mantle for such an activity.

Now, for the past 4 years, we have reported and warned members of this state's GOP of the dangers of Mr. Hobbs and how he doesn't give one hoot about the goals of the GOP. He is only concerned with what HE can do for his own self-enrichment. This invitation to Tommy Irvin exemplifies that goal. He wants to amass his own power and is merely using the GOP as the vehicle.

That is the reason why he has used the Cobb GOP to raise money for his own pockets and spend county money on such endeavors as publishing "Citizen Georgia" and using the county party's membership list to direct-mail information on subscribing to Citizen Georgia.

It's really too bad that this state's GOP has nothing...ummm...like, sayyy...a set of Rules that govern how a county party is supposed to operate...and, not operate. It's too bad that at every state convention, we can get a bunch of whacky-assed Resolutions passed, but, as far as setting any standards for how a county party is operated, OR a congressional committee party OR, any subdivision of the political party umbrella known as the State GOP, we ain't got jack, do we?

So, ASH can continue to raise money under the auspice of the money being for the purpose of getting Republicans elected, but, there are no checks and balances to make sure that that is what is going on. There is NO ONE who is active in this current form of the county party who has really served any time in the party. Everyone involved has only been involved since 2001. It's kinda like Lord of The Flies with ASH making-up whatever rules he wants to, and everyone on his executive committee just going right along with it. The same thing occured before when the She-Beast was in charge of the county party.

We haven't seen any Treasurer's Report posted on the Web since the hell we raised about it 2 years ago...ahhhh...that's okay, right? ASH can raise and spend the money anyway he sees fit. We, the State Party of Georgia, trust him entirely.

PV Offers One Final Thought On ASH: Just think, back at the 2005 Convention, if ding-dongs like Maria Strollo, Virginia Galloway and Catherine Gartland, who were hoping for an overthrow of Alec as state party chair, had gotten their wish, ASH would be sitting as State GOP Chairman right now...wreaking more havoc on this state in the past 5 months than Bill Clinton did in 8 years at the White House.
Casey Cagle Opens-Up A Can of Truth-Whippin' on Ralphie Poo

Lt. Governor Candidate Casey Cagle has unveiled a new Website that will, in the site's own words: "[O]ffer strictly factual information with original documentation included to the Public -- no spin and no attacks."

The Website is titled ReadAbout Reed.com. You can visit there to see the archives now.

You can also sign-up for the site's newsletter by sending an e-mail to Sign Me Up For This!.

PV Offers One Comment: We have no doubt that the Reed campaign and their supporters will wring their hands and accuse Cagle of attacking poor, defenseless Walphy-Poo.

Unfortunately for them, it's pretty darned difficult to accuse Cagle of doing anything against Walphy-Poo if all Cagle uses is Ralph Reed's own documented statements to the media.

Now, we are an unrelated entity to the Cagle campaign, so, we say this on our own: Ralph Reed is, at minimum, a liar when it comes to what he knew about the laundering of Choctaw Indian gambling interests into Alabama and Texas. Rumors are that Ralph will be called to testify in front of the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs, which is rumored to be scheduled in the 4th quarter of 2005.

We suspect that if he is called, he will go...but his answers will sound very repetitive as most of his answers will be on the order of "Senator, Under the 5th Amendment, I have the right to not incriminate myself by answering that question...".
The Definition of Irony

Isn't it ironic that the illegal drug that Governor Perdue was MOST concerned about reducing the production of last legislative session was used to stop a man from continuing a killing spree? All this irony makes us go HMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....
