At the Cobb County breakfast meeting/Cobb County Committee meeting this morning, a verbal altercation between two members nearly reached the point of a physical melee.
PV Provides The Details OF The Event: There was a point of order called by Donna Rowe who questioned Chairman Marilyn Gilhuly on why proper notice was not sent out by the party on the meeting that morning.
Gilhuly responded "Well, I don't send out political mail anymore from my house. I had to go to the post office, and I'm sorry some people didn't receive their notice. Who didn't receive notice? Raise your hands."
When those individuals who didn't receive notice raised their hands, Dorsey Dodgen, who was standing-up on the back wall piped-up "Well, you're here, right? So, what more notice was needed?"
Bill Simon, sitting in a booth turned his head around and challenged Dodgen that the rules of the party required a 10-day official notice of a meeting, and Simon, still sitting down, pointed at Dodgen for emphasis with his left arm and hand outstretched.
Dodgen, standing 3 feet beyond Simon's finger raised his leg and kicked Simon in his forearm.
At that point, Simon rose out of his seat and put his hands behind his back and faced Dodgen. Simon challenged Dodgen with "If you want to fight, give me a real punch. Don't fight like a girl and kick people. I'll give you a free shot," Simon said, egging Dodgen on.
Dodgen raised his fists like he was going to take a shot when other meeting attendees stepped between the two adversaries and broke it up.
One onlooker remarked "I've never seen Bill Simon move so fast in all my life!" [as he did after Dodgen kicked Simon].
Our staff reporter caught-up with Simon afterwards for a quote. "I am tired of people breaking rules and flagrantly lying about it. If they want to kick and beat me for challenging their Neo-Nazi tactics, then so be it. But, I won't stand for getting kicked by some idiot who doesn't like it when I point out that rules aren't being followed. Enough's enough!"
