Re: On Mr. Charles Guatney, the liberal media and the Internet

Thursday, February 06, 2003

The comments herein are based on my limited knowledge and understanding of the inter-workings of state GOP. What time I have is in support of the Gwinnett County party.

I agree with the thought concept that the Internet and the ability to communicate with ease and low cost is a very valuable weapon in the struggle with the liberal media. I do not think the Internet is used effectively by the Republican party and supporters.

Part of this is directly due to the apparent lack of interest of the state party. I do not have personal information that is posted by PV as to the antics of Ralph Reed. If true, they should not only be brought to the attention of the party members but distributed to members for further distribution to friends and relatives. I would have the opinion that with the success of Perdue and Chambliss, Mr. Reed's head is the size of a championship pumpkin in a weight contest. I have not seen any response on the net as to the comments on PV by a Reed supporter.

It would appear that a central point of contact should be contacted where individuals can send in information on malfeasance, dereliction of duty, false statements and other matters that could influence the voters. Last year PV reported on what would be fraud on the part of a state elected official, if proved. Not further mention since that one comment. If there were a central information collecting point, such a claim could be sent to selected individuals, statewide for informal investigation. People in a state regulated business industry do not want to assault the King unless they are assured of a very high possibility of success. The nobles of Europe learned quickly that if you attempted to overthrow or to kill the King, you had better succeed.

It would appear that the central point of contact would be a publication's contact point to solicit letters to the editor to various news papers in the state when misleading information or fraudulent comments are published as news. If the publications point called attention to the article and urged a letter to the editor, a barrage of letters would get their attention. Why? Because the honorable city editor of the AJC has stated when there are 4 letters to the editor and one against, they publish two of the 4 and no publication of the one.

They print letters to the based on the number of people interested in the as subject to write the editor. Could it be that conservatives do not have time to write the the editor or do not note those situations where letters could serve a purpose?

Any way, Mr. Guatney, keep up the good work.

Gwinnett County Republican
