MARIETTA - The Tom Price for Congress campaign is pleased to announce that Michael Opitz has joined the campaign team for Georgia's 6th Congressional District. Michael will become the Field Director for campaign activities throughout the 6th District.
Michael Opitz, a 25-year resident of Cobb County, is active in the Cobb County Republican Party, and has served as the Republican Chairman of the Georgia 37th House District. He served as 1st Vice Chairman of the 6th Congressional District and was a Member of Newt Gingrich’s “High-Tech Roundtable.” In 1993-94, Michael ran for congress in the Republican 7th Congressional District Primary with Bob Barr and Bob Herriott. Michael withdrew to support Bob Barr.
He has served as a delegate to the Cobb County, 6th District, and the State Republican Conventions from 1993 to 2003. Additionally, he was a Delegate to the Cobb County Convention and Chairman of the Resolutions Committee during the 2003 Cobb County Convention, as well as, serving on the Resolutions Committee at the Republican 6th District Convention. Michael was nominated to serve as the Co-Chair of the Resolutions Committee at the Georgia Republican Party Convention May 17, 2003. Michael is currently the Republican 6th Congressional District, 2nd Vice Chair and served as the Cobb County Co-Chair, Georgians for Isakson.
