'Dem Dastardly Texan Dems...

Well, the Texas Democrats have once again fled the state to prevent the Texas legislature from having a quorum so that the state can be redistricted. The GOP dominates Texas and wants to ensure that they remain in power for another 8 years.

PV's Analysis: Now, while our Texas GOP breathren take to the airways and call the AWOL Democrats "cowards" and such for preventing a quorum, in Georgia, we have quite a different take on the matter.

We are thinking "Gee, too bad we couldn't have done the same to protest our redistricting process 2 years ago!" Maybe we need some new guerilla-war-thinking legislators on our side in the state House...

Hall County GOP Forum

Al Bartell, candidate for U. S. Senate, will speak at the Hall County Republican Party’s monthly Conservative Forum this Saturday, August 2nd at 8:30 AM at the Grover Lucille Hood Community Center in Clermont.

Bartell is a professional mediator from Powder Springs. He ran for Lieutenant Governor in 2002 as an advocate for citizen involvement in the public policy process. He now hopes to represent Georgians on the national level.

The Hall GOP is holding its Conservative Forum in a different location in the county each month so that residents of different areas can have better access to the meetings. “We want everyone to be involved who wants to,” said Joe Cwik [pronounced 'swik'], Hall GOP Chairman.

Lamutt Kicks-Off Campaign...

On Sunday July 20, exactly one year prior to the 2004 Primary Election, State Senator Robert Lamutt and his wife, Cindy, officially kicked-off his campaign for the Republican nomination for Congress from Georgia's 6th District. The event, a barbecue held at the Lamutt's Cobb County residence, attracted more than 300 friends and supporters, including some of the district's best-known and most respected Republican activists.

Lamutt plans to focus his campaign on the theme of pro-business, pro-family, and pro-taxpayer.

The Life and Times of Mr. CEO, Vernon Jones-Part 2

Rumors have it that DeKalb CEO Vernon Jones has committed a felony...at least once.

It seems that Mr. CEO changed his domicile two years ago, but continued to vote in the same precinct, even though he did not live in that precinct. Every time Jones voted in the wrong precinct, he had to have read, and thus, ignored, the following statement on the voter card:

"I understand that making a false statement on this Certificate is a felony under [Ga.] Code § 23-2-562."

The false statement would have been "Is this address correct?" to which Jones, if he wanted to vote in his old precinct, would have had to sign it as "Yes, this is my current address," when in fact, it wasn't.

The DeKalb District Attorney's office is reportedly taking the matter seriously. In a Fulton County Daily Report article, District Attorney J. Tom Morgan stated: "Any time an elected official lies on a public document, it's a serious investigation."

PV's Analysis: Yes, it is a serious matter when an elected official lies and violates the law. Or, rather, it should be.

But, in Georgia, and particularly in DeKalb County, the only thing that matters is whether the elected official is black or white. A white elected official would be prosecuted in a heartbeat.

A black elected official like Vernon Jones will likely be given a get-out-of-jail-free card on this for the sole reason that he's an African-American.

Sleazy Come, Sleazy Go-Part 2

Rumors have it that Tom "The Paw" Perdue has now been fired by the Mac Collins campaign for U.S. Senate. Wonder why?...

MEMORANDUM

To: Brian Kheal, AKA "Georgia Whine"

From: Bill Simon, AKA "Political Vine"

Re: Ad hominem attacks

=================================================

Really now, Brian, one would think that you could come up with something other than merely resorting to personal attacks in your response. Calling me "crazy" and recommending I take "medication" are absurd personal attacks when all I did was point out how utterly ignorant you were when you claimed that Mark Burkhalter (a House member) was going to take the place of Bill Stephens (a Senate member) as Floor Leader. I didn't call you an idiot, a moron, or any other dozen or so names (though, I should have) at your obvious lack of knowledge about who is who in our legislature. This personal hatred of me you have must be consuming every waking moment of your life, no?

It must suck so bad that the Political Vine continues to grow and thrive while your Websites continue to wither with zero traffic. Even after your 5 minutes of fame last year when you appeared on Hannity & Colmes regarding one of your Dem-attack Websites, you still don't get the attention you think you deserve, do you? It truly is a shame.

I distinctly recall you promising me...no, wait, it was a threat, as I recall, a'la of the Alec Baldwin variety, that you would leave the 7th District if John Linder beat Bob Barr. Well, John beat Bob by a resounding margin (by Republican primary voters) and yet, there you sit, still in the 7th District, bemoaning the loss of your idol at the hands of John Linder and...me.

You and the other Barr-nuts (e.g., Virginia Galloway and her pals) must have been going simply ape-sh** during the Yosemite Sam incident. To this day, I still get complimented on that whole affair, even though all I did was report on it and provide some videotape for thousands of fun-loving folks.

Maybe if you rename your Website I-Worship-Bob-Barr.com, you'll garner some attention. Barring (no pun intended) that, I guess you'll have to continue to toil away in chickensh** anonymity because you're too afraid to sign your work.

Your petty insults at me aside, there is a problem I have with you when it comes to keeping State GOP information a secret. You and your accomplices (whether they be in DeKalb or in Bartow or out of state at the moment) have a track record of digging-up historical (and confidential) GOP papers that are in storage, and scanning them for publication onto the Web.

In fact, those documents posted on the Web during the Reed-Shafer race are STILL on the Web, just waiting for a Dem operative to dig-up. Documents like letters and memos between GOP hired lawyers, Chairman Billy Lovett, David Shafer, and state party consultants used during the 1994 election season. All on the Web in their original glory. All posted because die-hard supporters of Ralph Reed decided that they had the right to STEAL the documents and post them to the Web in a misguided attempt to demonstrate wrongdoing by Republicans when there was no wrongdoing. All this previously-confidential information is on the Web. Today.

Moreover, it should especially concern the current holders of the GOP headquarters. See, Brian, everyone knows that you were Mr. Gung-Ho for Ralph Reed right up until the time shortly after Reed's win. Hamrick first ousted your pal Rick Richardson from the state HQ, and then you were booted-out by Ralph himself.

After that happened, you turned against Hamrick and Reed with a vengeance via your rants on the Georgia Whine. Who knows what you'll do if Alec or Scott or Paul or anyone else at the state GOP says or does something to make you angry?

I noticed that you (sob!) removed me from (boo-hoo!) distribution of your (cough! cough!) "publication." I'm just so shattered (wahhhhhh!) that I don't know what I will be able to do with myself. Well, I guess I should say "thank you!" Now I don't have to waste any time reading your latest drivel.

Most graciously yours,

Bill Simon
