Dear PV,

I am writing in response to your recent email newsletter (May 9 Political Boxers Issue) in which you comically expressed concern over the individuals chosen to be on the Nominating Committee for the State Convention in Macon. Though I cannot, nor would I try to speak on behalf of individuals I do not know personally, I can and must speak on behalf of a member of the Nominating Committee I know very well – my friend, Kathy Hildebrand.

Kathy’s faith is in no way a political convenience for her. She is honest, and would rather risk losing political clout than be part of something underhanded, or otherwise wrong. She does not believe accusations, she does not ostracize, but rather welcomes those who may not completely share her views, and when the day is done, and an election is over, she is there to support the winning Republican 100%. She is a tireless worker, totally dedicated to the Republican Party. I am very proud that she is on the Nominating Committee.

Thank you for allowing me to express my support and respect for my friend.

PV Editor's Response: Our parody in no way was directed at Ms. Hildebrand. Nor, for that matter, was it directed at Don Layfield, Judy Grammer, or Doug Silvas.

It was, however, specifically aimed at the remaining three. This was not due to any feelings from the Vine of being "anti-female" or "anti-Christian," but simply because each of them have exhibited some sense of religious and/or racial superiority in the past that might guide them to asking such questions of candidates.
