AP Video of The Supposed Briefing of Bush

by Bill Simon

Not that I am currently a great defender or supporter of President Bush’s (no, I’m not a “rino”, but just a thinking Republican…which is becoming a rarer political animal today), but, there’s something kinda strange about the recently released video from the Associated Press on Bush supposedly participating in the Katrina briefing.

You can look at the video here.

The conversation between FEMA Director Mike Brown and his team looks genuine enough.

But, on the video of President Bush sitting in a room talking in a speaker-phone, supposedly talking about moving-in resources to help, etc., the date at the bottom of the video reads WHITE HOUSE 0725.

The seventh month is July, not August. It was August 25 when Hurricane Katrina was barreling towards New Orleans, not July 25, which is that the video reflects.

Can someone reconcile this for me?

    0725 is military time. Maybe?

At any rate I am tired of hearing about this. Thus I promise all my Democratic friends that I will not be voting for G.W. Bush again..

both have pretty good analysis of the AP story on these tapes. The AP’s lust to get Bush got the best of them.

However, I don’t think we learn much from these tapes. Bush has a bunch of meetings, everyone talks about how dangerous this storm was, but the bottom line is that the local governments failed their citizens and the Washington bureaucrats dropped the ball.

This is the perfect issue for Conservatives to drive home the point that you shouldn’t rely on the government to take care of you. The National Weather Service certianly made it clear that Katrina was a powerful storm. Inform yourself and take action to protect your own family.

It was heartbreaking to watch all those people who had no clue about where to go or what to do to care for themselves or their families. It angers me that this happened in the US of A.

Today's Deep Thought

One thing I always felt bad about was kicking Grandma in the head with my football shoes on. But what was her head doing right by the football like that? And how did the football get in her bed?
