The Dick & Bart Show: Episode 1

by politicalvine

Rumors have it that longtime Cherokee County Republicans Bart Brannon and Dick Hall have finally come out of their closets and start a new auxiliary party in the county: The Brokeback Mountain Republican Party.

In a press release that hit the fan this morning, Bart Brannon stated that he was so moved by the characters in the recently released movie of the same name, that he called Dick Hall immediately from his cellphone after the movie. They spent several days hashing-out their feelings for each other and the parallel between them and the boys in the movie. They eventually decided that the best way to express their mutual affection for each other was to start this organization together and quickly grow it into a political force.

“We have been political farces for too long in Cherokee County,” Bart Brannon said. “With this organization, we will become a powerful political force in this county. And, if it goes as planned, we will be helping to start similar chapters all over Georgia and in Alabama soon.”

Dick Hall had this to say: “When I saw that the movie was rated ‘R’, I knew it meant that it was suitable for Republicans like me to see. This movie has inspired me to be more open in my feelings towards Bart and…well, a certain Congressman that I’ve suspected for a long time who had these similar feelings.”

The organization’s charter states that meetings will be held on the 16th of every month, in recognition of the original release date of December 16, 2005 for the movie Brokeback Mountain. Also, the annual meeting is set to occur on December 16, 2006, and every year after that on the same date to remind members of the inspirational movie.

If you don’t know who Bart Brannon or Dick Hall is, you might not live in Cherokee County. They are easily recognizable by the fact that they nearly always show-up at every single political event together, sit at the same table, or close by each other, and always voice the same opinions on any subject…but, especially when it comes to displaying their deeply-held affection for Congressman Tom Price.

In fact, at the first meeting of the Cherokee County Brokeback Mountain Republican Party (“CCBMRP”) this month, Congressman Price is scheduled to speak.

Next month, they are trying to get Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay.

The Political Vine will keep our eyes on this story as it develops, and we will bring you more of the Dick & Bart Show as it unfolds.

At least the topic of this thread is an area where Bill Simon has extensive background experience along with first hand knowledge. Why the hostility Bill, the boy toy cut you off? Run out of condoms? Gerbil suffocate?

Bart — proud to join a long list of folks who put an intellectual smackdown on the PV “satirist” causing him to resort to BS personal attacks.

  2. Bill Simon Says:

Hostility? Nahh….just plain good ‘ole opportunity for practical satire.

But, what “intellectual smackdown” are you referring to, Bart? That I’m a racist because I have legitimate concerns about the Dubai ports deal? Yeah, buddy..you are certainly an intellectual heavyweight on that issue.

Today's Deep Thought

I scrambled to the top of the precipice where Nick was waiting. 'That was fun,' I said. 'You bet it was,' said Nick. 'Let's climb higher.' 'No,' I said. 'I think we should be heading back now.' 'We have time,' Nick insisted. I said we didn't, and Nick said we did. We argued back and forth like that for about 20 minutes, and then finally decided to head back. I didn't say it was an interesting story.
