Chairman WHO For The Dem Party of Georgia???

by Deep Throat

The Democratic Party of Georgia will elect a new State Chair on January 27 in Atlanta.

Mike Berlon, Gwinnett County Chair, has been running for months. Two other candidates, Jane Kidd, and the Rev. Jim Nelson, have been joined by a recent third, Carol Jackson.

All four candidates spoke at a large Democratic meeting held in Gainesville on Saturday morning. Large is not meant to describe the room. At least 75 people attended, mostly voting members of the State Committee from 22 counties. Very impressive for Gainesville, a Saturday morning, and an event without free food or booze.

All four candidates for chair appeared and made the usual speeches along with 9 other candidates or their representatives.

Given the turnout for an unpaid position with little power, rumors have been flying. The most nasty rumor seems to be that Mike Berlon and his county party are not in compliance with the State By-laws.

Rumors are that Mike Berlon has been delaying that election while cobbling together a coalition of the YDG, Labor, and ex-insiders. Not only has Mike the Candidate not held the election, he hasn’t held any monthly meetings, either.

No one asked him about this on Saturday, but given Mike’s public statements about grassroots, importance of each county, and his take on the Party’s alleged Atlanta First, Last, and Only Policy, who can take him seriously?

Currently Mike Berlon has a website that lists over 80 active supporters.

How many of those supporters will vote for Berlon when they learn he is squashing an entire county organization, thumbing his nose at rules, and daring someone to at the State level to confront him?

Is Mike Berlon the next iteration of Bobby Kahn and his Atlanta Cabal?

PV Note: The aforementioned info was sent to us from our pal Deep Throat. To us, it sounds like the heads of the Mike Berlon and the GOP’s Anthony-Scott Hobbs could be switched with each other, and no one would ever be the wiser. 😉

  1. Yellow Dogg Dem Says:

    What election is he delaying?

The State Chair Election or the local county level elections that were set for December?

Has he delayed the January 27th date for electing the State officers to get more support?

pssst, can we really swap these two guys? I’ll kick in a candidate to be named later.

Today's Deep Thought

I remember that one fateful day when coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. 'You don't have to tell me,' I said. 'I'm off the team, aren't I?' 'Well,' said coach, 'you never were really on the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. you show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times.' It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.
