Insider Advantage On The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly in the Georgia Legislature

by politicalvine

From last Friday’s In Our Opinion column on BillShipp.com:

    The Good:

House Speaker Pro Tem Mark Burkhalter, R-Alpharetta, is all over the board saving the day for every conceivable cause…

    The Bad:

What is State Sen. Vincent Fort, D-Atlanta, thinking of with his proposed moratorium on executions…?

      The Ugly:

House member Calvin Hill, R-Woodstock, for his declaration of war against FDR for sins of the flesh…we can’t wait for Hill to start throwing out MLK, Jr. Day for the same reasoning…

You can read more about these politicans, as well as a slew of other tidbits at: In Our Opinion

If all memorialized public figures were held to the standard applied to FDR by Calvin, then we could end this BS practice of naming roads, buildings, bridges, parks, community centers, etc. after them. Instead of wasting time and money on inane issues like this and proclaiming red clay as the official GA dirt, maybe they could actually spend a little time reforming education.

Gosh, Bart, you don’t think requiring every school district to spend at least 65% of their revenue “in the classroom” will turnaround the abysmal public education this state is known for?

Wow! Where’s your undying allegiance to our Governor and the state legislature?

  3. bb Says:

Why not 70%, 80%, hell let’s just spend the entire bloated $30B state budget on govt. education so all teachers can live on W. Paces Ferry while the 50% dropouts do their landscaping. This truly has been one of the most disheartening legislative sessions in recent memory, but at least we will have an official dirt come April.

Republican majorities on the state and federal level remind me of the Braves pre-1991…”wait til next year”.

  4. Bill Simon Says:

    “$30 billion state budget???”

Interesting…’cause it was about 4 years ago that the budget was only $16 Billion.

Are you saying that since Republicans have taken control that our state budget has nearly doubled in the span of 4 years? Or, are you talking out of your rear-end, Bart?

  5. bb Says:

According to former Senate Majority Leader Bill Stephens who participated in a legislative town hall last week, the state budget is about $30B when you count all revenue ($18.6B reported number does not include everything).

If you disagree with the number, I suggest you contact Bill.

    Bart

  6. Bill Simon Says:

I have no interest in talking, seeing, or listening to Bill Stephens. That guy can barely operate a checkbook, much less juggle a budget number.

  7. bb Says:

OK, State Senator Chip Rogers was there as well and agreed with Bill. Of course you will probably go off on Chip for being a sign stealing thug to assault his character.

Who do you support these days Bill? Is there anybody holding elected office that meets your incredibly strict standard of conduct?

    Bart

  8. Bill Simon Says:

Bart, one person I DON’T trust is you, or your knowledge.

  9. bb Says:

That makes it a mutual understanding…we are making progress.

  10. Bill Simon Says:

So, you don’t trust yourself or your knowledge? Must be tough for you to get up in the morning.

Today's Deep Thought

I bet if you were a mummy wrapper in ancient Egypt, on thing you would constantly find yourself telling people would be, 'Be sure, before I start, you have all the jewelry and so forth on the body, because I am NOT unwrapping him later.'
