Our Navy Used To Be The Best…But, Under Bush & Rumsfeld, It Appears To Take A Dive…
by Bill Simon
This is rather disturbing:A diesel-powered Chinese sub stalked the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk aircraft carrier for who knows how long before being stumbled upon by a “routine surveillance flight.”
Not a “nukuler” sub, but a DIESEL-POWERED sub. Great…just great.

I guess I should get a Chinese muffler for my pickup.

bill, maybe a chinese car, too…I was at a car show recently here in Colombia and they have many high quality vehicles they are exporting around the world. Cheap in price and durable. Once those hit the US market, the Big Three are screwed. Now, these cars weren’t good looking like ours and the Japanese, but give them time. Just a little advanced warning of what is down the road…literally.

I’d rather have their cars here than engaged in a war on the seas with WW II technology subs out-maneuvering our supposed nuclear “capabilities.”

For those of you in Rio Linda Chinese submarines don’t actually use mufflers for noise reduction.

Or do they? Anyway this article makes a good point about How Russia and China have been busy improving their technology and defensive capabilities while Bush has had us “stuck in Iraq.”

Exactly, Bill. What they do is get on the surface, open the throttles full blast to barrel-up to maximum speed, and then shut them off while at the same time opening-up all the windows for a crash dive so they can coast for awhile under the sea without running the diesels.

Actually a well maintained diesel sub is quieter than a nuke because they only use the diesels every now and then for charging the batteries. The advantage of the nukes is that they have longer ranges. However the point still stands, China is rapidly closing the gap on us.

Also as far as the comment of “WW II technology subs out-maneuvering our supposed nuclear “capabilities.” It’s not WW II technology, a lot of the newest and best subs out there are diesels. Also the Kitty Hawk is not nuclear, it’s one of the oldest ships in the fleet.
