Mitt Romney: The BIGGEST Lying SOB Since George W. Bush

Bill Simon, February 22nd, 2007

I don’t really care about the abortion issue like so many people do. What I DO care about is whether or not a candidate for president is “genuine” in their character. Mitt Romney is a nothing but a liar when it comes to his “position” on abortion now as compared to what he said a few years ago.

Romney is a pandering fool. If he wins the GOP presidential primary, there is no way in HELL that I would ever support him or vote for him for president. I don’t like candidates who pander.

November 2008 may just be the 2nd presidential election in a row that I refuse to make a choice between presidential candidates on the ballot.

The Fallacy of the Big Tent

Craig Kootsillas, February 19th, 2007

During the convention season, the party elects its leadership. It’s a time to reflect on the past and learn from it to make informed decisions regarding leadership and future direction.

Currently, the party has it wrong. It focuses on increasing membership during the convention season resulting in poorly informed decisions.

This questionable strategy amounts to our 18 year-old sons and daughters electing our president and legislature.

It’s become a popular strategy because it allows style to trump substance and to allow past misdeeds to go unnoticed, but it results in leadership chosen by those without experience and newcomers to the convention season that disappear by the election season.

Many claims will be made during this convention season regarding past experience with “growing the grassroots” – and they call for careful examination.

The standard by which success should be judged should not be the number of “newcomers” rounded up for the current convention, but by the number of newcomers to prior conventions that stuck around to become old-timers.

Effective party building occurs when old is mixed with new, when old strategies are enhanced with new ideas. This doesn’t happen by starting with bare ground with every change in leadership.

The Lies of Anthony-Scott Hobbs – Issue 1 – Introduction

Bill Simon, February 4th, 2007

Some acolyte of Cobb GOP Chairman Anthony-Scott Hobbs thought it would be funny if they started writing entries into the online Wikipedia enclyclopedia…and, they covered me in it.

Most of the stuff written is accurate…however, the following should be corrected by the author, or, someone else who has Wikipedia writing privileges:

1) The defeat of the Censure was not “narrowly defeated”, it was defeated by a margin of 2:1 as documented by me in the Political Vine back in 2004 at the actual moment of the censure and that particular county convention.

2) The “rejection” of my candidacy as a delegate actually occured at the 2003 county convention, not the 2004 county convention, as this Wiki-entry states.

However, I know that, just like Hobbs believes himself, accuracy to the facts or truth are unnecessary in this world when you are talking anything about Hobbs…so, why should a Wiki-pedia entry by any of his followers/worshippers be any more accurate???

In any case, the “fixation” the Wiki-entry describes about me having on Herr Hobbs could be classified as a “fixation” in exactly the same context as a prosecutor might be accused of having a “fixation” of making sure the jury for the accused rapist, thief, or murderer knows all of the facts concerning the malfeasance by the defendant, and, as a result of these acts by the defendant, he needs to be considered to be lower than the lowest form of scum in society.

So, yes, I have a “fixation” on Anthony-Scott Hobbs (or, as he was known for all years of his life UNTIL he moved to Georgia as “Anthony S. Hobbs”) because I happen to be one of those strange people in politics who DO “fixate” on lying pieces of garbage who try to pass themselves off in politics as honorable sorts of people. Hell, there are Democrats I would put more faith in telling the truth than this liar. This guy puts Bill Clinton to shame in his ability to lie, not only about important things, but the most insignificant things that he doesn’t have to lie over.

In short, Anthony-Scott Hobbs (or, “ASH” as I dubbed him back in 2003, not only for the abbreviation of his name, but for the “ashes” in which he will leave behind any effort he is involved in) is a psychotic, pathological liar when it comes to Georgia politics..

Georgia State Chairman’s Race Press Release

politicalvine, January 28th, 2007

(MARIETTA, GA) — Sue P. Everhart, current First Vice-Chair of the Georgia Republican Party, and a long-time Republican Party leader and grassroots activist, has announced that she will run for Chairman of the Georgia State Republican Party. The election will be held at the state convention at the Gwinnett Convention Center May 19, 2007.

Georgia Republicans now hold the offices of Governor, Lt. Governor, Secretary of State, a majority of the Georgia Senate and Georgia House of Representatives, as well as the two US Senate seats and the majority of the Georgia members of the US House of Republicans. These election victories were the result of a strong state Party supported by a solid statewide grassroots organization.

“My goal as Chairman will be to build on this success. The success of Republican candidates in Georgia depends on maintaining our statewide volunteers and supporting them through more sophisticated and extensive training. We need to strengthen grassroots networks where Party volunteers are weak and Republicans are losing close races.

“We lost two close Congressional races in the 2006 election cycle—one race by only 864 votes and another by 1,752 votes—and I want to avoid these types of losses in the future by making sure that Republican candidates in every area of the state have the strong support of a well-organized state party organization and a well-trained grassroots volunteer network. I also want to make sure that we maintain the positions we’ve won. I am particularly looking forward to working to reelect Sen. Saxby Chambliss for another term.”

Mrs. Everhart worked her way up the Republican Party hierarchy through the grassroots. She has worked on dozens of local, state and national campaigns. She has also served in various capacities in the Georgia Republican Party including coordinating their last 3 State Conventions and was the Georgia Coordinator for the 2004 National Convention in New York. She served two terms as Sixth District Chairman and is now Vice-Chairman of the Georgia Republican Party. She was named the Georgia Republican Party’s Volunteer of the year in 2000 and received their Pioneer Award in 2005 for her long and continued service to the Party.

She is a tireless organizer, believes strongly in developing and maintaining a grassroots organization, and has outstanding political instincts and in-depth knowledge of the Republican Party organization and the candidates and volunteers in the state. She will be an outstanding Chairman of the Georgia Republican Party.

Mrs. Everhart is the widow of Guy O. Everhart, MD and has one son. She is a former banker and lives in Marietta, Georgia. She has been very active in her community including serving as Chairman of the Cobb County Election Commission. Chairman of the Cobb County Arts Board, Board Member of the Cobb County Conventions and Visitors Bureau and serves on the Advisory Board for the Cobb County Symphony.

Governor Returns To His (Democratic) Roots…

Bill Simon, January 20th, 2007

Well, this is just dandy. Georgia Governor Perdue is proposing that the State Ethics Commission’s budget get slashed by 37.5%, or, from $1,600,000 last year to $1,000,000 for Fiscal 2007. This will cause Commission to slash and layoff personnel…AND, create an even larger (and, lengthier) backlog of complaints to weed through.

But, fear not, the Governor is proposing the state spend $19,000,000 on a new initiative to promote Georgia’s fishing industry. (Whoo-hoo!)

Here’s an idea to State Rep. Ben Harbin of the House Appropriations Committee: Reduce the $19 million on bass fishing promotion to $18 million, and increase the Ethics Commission budget to $2,000,000 per year, and leave it at that level for 5 years.

Strong ethics laws can only be backed by strong enforcement of said laws…what the Governor’s trying to do appears to be going back to the days when Democrats ran the state and, when they passed ethics laws, they did it grudgingly while never really providing enough financial resources to the tiny State Ethics Commission.
