Ralph Reed & Jack Abramoff: Back Together Again…In A Documentary On Their Deceit And Treatment Of Others

Bill Simon, October 5th, 2006

This was a great thing to watch last night. I usually do not like the standard Bill Moyers‘ pieces, but he nailed the saga of Jack Abramoff, Grover Norquist, and Ralph Reed perfectly in this latest documentary on their whole involvement in ripping-off Indian tribes and faking out their fellow Christian conservatives.

Capitol Crimes

The clip on Abramoff, Inc. is especially interesting to watch…

But, What Will Randy Evans Do If Denny Resigns?

Bill Simon, October 2nd, 2006

The conservative newspaper in D.C., The Washington Times, is now calling on Speaker Hastert to resign from his position because he now acknowledges that he knew, at minimum, about the e-mails between Foley and a teen Page in late 2005. (Hat Tip to Bull Moose over at Peach Pundit for the story link.)

I think Tom DeLay should be called-in to testify as well. That little putz knows ALL of the secrets about the folks in the GOP caucus (thus the reason why he was able to “hammer” bills and people so well), and you can bet he probably knew all about Foley’s predilection and passed on his knowledge to his replacement, John Boehner.

I wonder who else in the House leadership knew anything about this stuff on Foley? Wonder what Deputy Whip Tom Price knew, and when did he know it?

Is Georgia State Rep. Larry O’ Neal A Liar?

Bill Simon, October 1st, 2006

Really. That’s my question. I just want to know.

BECAUSE, according to this article written by AJC Reporter James Salzer last Saturday, O’Neal introduced the bill in the well of the House: “Rep. Larry O’Neal stepped to the podium and asked colleagues to pass a seemingly mundane tax bill requested by the state Department of Revenue.

But, it was reported a few weeks ago that State Revenue Commissioner Bart Graham did not ask for the change in the law: “[Graham] had been informed about that particular change รขโ‚ฌโ€- not consulted, but informed.”

Funny thing…neither Governor Perdue nor O’Neal has offered an explanation and, in fact, have refused to answer calls from Salzer on this story.

Now, those of you who think “Yawnnn, so what? Perdue will crush Taylor, so who cares about this trivial stuff?”

I care. I care a lot. I’m fed-up with hearing about “family values” bullshit from Republicans that talk out of their rear-end and then come to find out, these “family values” candidates are liars or worse, self-enriching crooks.

The more O’Neal and Perdue duck this issue, the more questions I will have about their honesty…and, the more everyone else should as well.

“Political Blogs Aren’t For The Faint Of Heart

Hey, if you folks want to read a neat article on political blogs in Georgia (which also includes a little piece on ME ๐Ÿ™‚ ) checkout this piece in Monday’s AJC.

“Hi, My Name Is Ex-Congressman Mark Foley…Can You Give Me Your E-Mail And Send Me Your Pic?”

Bill Simon, September 29th, 2006

Let me get this straight: The freakin’ CHAIRMAN of the House Caucus On Missing and Exploited Children sent e-mails to underage male pages that talked about how much in (fitness) shape they were and if they would e-mail him a picture of them…even when the page didn’t work for the congressman directly?

Nahhh, there’s nothing bizarre-o about that. Nothing that might cause Caucus Chairman Rep. Mark Foley (R-FL) to feel the need to RESIGN immediately from the House…

Well, here is the trail of the e-mails in question…it certainly looks semi-baffling to me as to why Foley would be asking for an e-mail pic in such a casual e-mail about how the underage page was weathering a hurricane.

AND, even juicer is this transcript of Instant Message Chats between Foley and a “young stud”….

What Will The New Name Be? Our Guess Is “The Ralph Reed Coalition”

politicalvine, September 26th, 2006

Rumors have it that the Georgia chapter of the Christian Coalition is cutting ties with the national organization. In doing so, they have to drop the use of the name “Christian Coalition.”

What do you think the new name should be?

Hmmm…Wonder If This Means Osama Is Alive…?

politicalvine, September 24th, 2006

The new al-Qaida field commander in Afghanistan is calling for Muslims to leave the U.S. รขโ‚ฌโ€œ particularly Washington and New York รขโ‚ฌโ€œ in anticipation of a major terror attack to rival Sept. 11, according to an interview by a Pakistani journalist.

Abu Dawood told Hamid Mir, a reporter who has covered al-Qaida and met with Osama bin Laden, the attack is being coordinated by Adnan el-Shukrijumah and suggests it may involve some form of weapon of mass destruction smuggled across the Mexican border.

“Our brothers are ready to attack inside America. We will breach their security again,” he is quoted as saying. “There is no timeframe for our attack inside America; we can do it any time.”

Too Bad More Cities and Counties Don’t Do This..

Bill Simon, September 22nd, 2006

Greenleaf, Idaho — All Americans have the right to bear arms. Some towns have even gone as far as to require each household to have a gun. Now a small Idaho town is contemplating a similar idea– it’s called the Civil Emergencies Ordinance. And although gun ownership is just one piece of this ordinance, it’s the part that’s getting the most attention.

I think when you go on trial they should have a parrot there that says guilty or not guilty for you, as a sort of courtesy.
