Rumors have it that Ralph Reed‘s longtime business associate, Tim Phillips, is departing Century Strategies and moving to D.C. to accept a position as Exec. Director of Americans for Prosperity, an anti-tax group.

This rumor, if accurate, deals a very big blow to the Reed campaign for Lt. Governor.  Phillips has  been the one largely responsible for grassroots organization development with CS’s consulting business.  Sure, Ralph is the one who “sells” people on the ideas, but Phillips has been the one who has kept track of implementing the organizational efforts.

Phillips’ departure is a signal that consulting business for Century Strategies, whether in terms of political campaigns or Ralph’s so-called “grasstop” lobbying, has completely dried-up.
