The Saga of A Congressman’s Lie – Part 2
by Bill Simon
Yes, Virginia, there will be a 3rd Part to this Saga, and in some weird fashion, I am Santa Claus.
I do not have a long white beard. Nor do I wear a big red suit (I’m allergic to most things red…whether they be red-necks OR just about anyone who graduated from UGA and “decorates” their home with everything in UGA red). I don’t yet have the big Santa Claus belly, but, it looks like this year is shaping-up to be the year for maximum politics and work stress, so, I might eat myself up to the Santa Claus level when this year is over.
The “gifts” I can bring people are tidbits of information on people in politics. Tidbits they will likely NOT get anywhere else. Tidbits that are sometimes buried in incredibly long, violently written rants, but…for those of you who are mature enough, and clued-in enough to the political arena, the information you gather is, at minimum, entertaining, and, at maximum, info that will inform you on something that you wouldn’t know otherwise.
Now, aside from the information I give people, I realize that I have built quite a reputation, good and bad. The number of people who get pissed-off at me grows ever bigger each year in politics. Mostly Republicans, I imagine, but I’ve earned a few Dem enemies as well.
Some have been direct targets of my keyboard skills. Some others can best be defined as “unintended collateral damage” due to my writings. It does suck to have to deal with the collateral damage ones…really…but, that’s life. One door closes, and, invariably, another door opens for me to meet someone new.
This August 9, 2006 will be the 6th anniversary of the inception on The Political Vine and the entertainment and good times it has delivered to the Georgian political landscape.
In fact, here is a bona fide, 1st Edition copy of the very first Political Vine newsletter that went out on August 9, 2000:
Welcome to the Political Vine! In an attempt to be as fair and balanced as half…ummm….1/3….umm….0.01% of the so-called “news outlets” advertise themselves to be, we at the Political Vine wish to put our two cents worth into the rumors and innuendoes frequently bandied about as though it was absolute fact. So, sit back, peruse, and enjoy…
#1 – Congrats are to be expressed to Minority Leader Bob Irvin for his steadfast support of Robin-I-planned-to-switch-to-the-Democrat-Party-after-the
-election” Williams in the GOP primary held last Tuesday. With the combination of Bob’s, Mark Taylor’s and Charles Walker’s support, one wonders what the missing ingredient was that allowed Sue Burmeister to trounce Robin in last Tuesday’s GOP primary.
Note to remainder of House minority: Maybe you’re STILL in the minority because you keep electing boneheads like Irvin to be your “leader” (sic).
#2 – The Return of Mitch. In this newest episode of Mitch Skandalakis, Ace Politician Who Just Doesn’t Get It, Mitch privately expresses to other members of his support group that “maybe enough time has passed since 1998, and I could make a run for Congress”, apparently alluding to the possibility that Johnny Isakson’s 6th Congressional seat will soon be opening-up if Isakson goes for the late Senator Coverdell’s seat opposite Zig-Zag-Zell Miller.
Note to Mitch: We doubt if you would even get the support of your long-standing supporters like Bolia or Simon.
#3 – Everybody Go For It! Speaking of the possibility of the 6th District opening-up a seat soon, rumor has it that nearly everybody AND their mothers have expressed an interest in running for the solidly Republican seat. As long as you’re at least 21, got $4000, and a heartbeat, you can join the congressional sweepstakes!
Well, that’s all the time we have today. Until next time, remember, it ain’t true unless someone took the time to research it and write it down. Or, at least, just wrote it down.
PV Staff.
Ahhhh, the good old days. I wonder if I should/could go back to being just a quiet observer of politics, and not caring about who gets elected to what office…maybe next year, after this cycle..I’ll try and find a new hobby.
BUT, for those who have visited this article and are wondering what all this has to do with a “Saga”, well, there is a relation to the article below on Tom Price being a liar (“cubed”, as it were)…and, it is this:
Can you find Tom Price in the Picture?
Read the article. At the end of the article, quiz yourself on this 1-question: Where, exactly, was Tom Price on the evening of May 31, 2006?
Hold onto that answer for just a little while. Because, in a day or so, I will post the link to an audio-recording of the event with the League of Women Voters that was scheduled around Tom’s schedule on May 31. The “event” will include the preamble to the meeting, and then Debbie DeLong’s reading of the letter from Tom Price on why he couldn’t make the League’s event.
I have that recording. I have proof of what I claimed that Tom Price is a liar. Not “conjecture.” Proof. Proof that, quite honestly, I’d like to stuff down the throat of a certain someone still employed by Price who is making calls around the state of Georgia telling supporters of Tom Price that I’m full of it…that I’m making this stuff up.
Well, after I release the recording into the wild, I’ll just pen-in another enemy gained on the list this year.

When will this so-called video be available? Also, please note the debates were May 31, not May 30.

Thank you, Elizabeth, I corrected the mis-type.
This “so-called video” is made but, it’s a bit on the large megabyte size and I’m not sure I have the bandwidth capable of allowing 100-500 people download this thing at once w/o crashing the server.
SO, what I have done is strip-out the audio only and you can download that file here:
Tom Price vs. League of Women Voters on Truth, Justice, and the American way
Download the file to your own hard drive to play it..I do not have the ability to “stream it” to you.

AND, you will note that the first woman speaking (Jennifer Owens of the League of Women Voters) states that Tom had to “cancel at the last moment.”
But, in today’s MDJ, Tom claims that his campaign let the League know right away when the campaign was told of the debate date and time that he wasn’t going to be able to make it.
SO, the questions will come down to this: Is Jennifer Owens a liar, or is Tom Price (and his campaign minions) a liar?
I’m trying to think of a reason why Owens, in front of a public gathering of nearly 200 people (a crowd size offered by Dick Pettys in his article on http://www.InsiderAdvantage.com on Thursday) would be interested in lying about the set-up of the debate and her attempts to be VERY accommodating to the Congressman.
You let me know, Elizabeth, why Jennifer Owens would have a reason to lie. I know why Tom Price would lie…that’s clearly evident. He’s scared of having to defend his record in public.

Bill,
I’d be happy to host the video for you if you like. That way if nothing else, they only take down my server 🙂 Send me an email outside of this thread and I’ll get it posted today!

I would really like to see the video. A picture is worth a thousand words.
Any way Bill to get Chris to help you out with this?
For the record, has anyone spoken with the Marietta Veterans group regarding Price’s visit? I would like to know when it was scheduled, and when – if at all – Price was there……
