Now a small Idaho town is contemplating a similar idea– it’s called the Civil Emergencies Ordinance. Reminds me of Kennesaw in the mid-80’s. Good for them…

As the mother of small children, I don’t like this. Looks totalitarianistic to me.

Caroline,
Do you know how to handle weapons? Or do you own one?. If so, tell your children not to mess with your gun.
I had guns in my house since I was old enough to form a semi cognitive thougth.
Dad told us not to mess with them. We didn’t. Simple.
He had them put away so we couldn’t get to them, anyway.
This is a great crime reducer. The stats prove it.
I can understand your hesitance if you’ve never had experience with them, though.
I train foreign security services how to use guns and the funny thing is that even someone who hasn’t handled them before enjoys them once they are properly taught. Huge smiles cross their faces!
We have worked with many interpreters, usually female, who also have never fired one. However, once they are shown, they love it!!
So they aren’t bad things to be able to use!

Yes, I know how to handle guns. Even if you tell your children not to do something oftentimes they disobey you. And as bad a mistake as kids sometimes make they usually are not fatal. A mistake with a gun is usually fatal.
