What Will The New Name Be? Our Guess Is “The Ralph Reed Coalition”
by politicalvine
Rumors have it that the Georgia chapter of the Christian Coalition is cutting ties with the national organization. In doing so, they have to drop the use of the name “Christian Coalition.”
What do you think the new name should be?

It’s sad that people have hijacked Christianity, and turned it into something it’s not.
Christianity is simple, but so many people have distorted the very teachings of Christ, that many of our churches today have become polluted and do more harm than good.
It’s been said that the greatest argument against Christianity is Christians, and in this context, I’d have to agree.

LOL! The satan busters is a good one!
DW,
I agree with you. Anyhow, the merging of religion and politics has been bad for religion. We must speak out against the radical fundamentalists who are trying to hijack our religion.

Caroline:
You are exactly right…dead on.
Because our government has started doing the church’s job, our churches have started trying to do the government’s job. We have it all wrong.
Welfare/Welfare Reform is the prime example. If Christians would do as they were commanded and take care of the widowed, the orphans, and the poor, both Fed and State government would save BILLIONS each year. Sure, personal responsibility plays a role, but for the church to step up, and emphasize responsibility while at the same time rehabilitating those in need – I believe the results would be mind-blowing.
It’s part of my P.E.A.C.E. plan, a life mission of sorts if you will.
P – Poverty
E – Enviroment
A – AIDS
C – Children
E – Education
If the church would address these, the most basic issues, and allow the government to “protect and serve” the people, as the Constitution allows, that our country would experience a revival of the greatness we once knew.
Just my thoughts.

DW,
Sorry, there’s no “G” in PEACE, so, that won’t do. The Political Christian zealots of today have “GAY” (and the hope of eradicating their rights to the pursuit of happiness) on their minds foremost.

DW,
I like Peace. It sounds especially great in times like these.
I do my part for charity. I do “hands on Atlanta” and other charitable things. I find it interesting the number of churches who don’t do any of this. Some of these churches seem to be more interested in self serving interests and indoctrination than actually teaching.
Bill Simon,
You are right. We’ve had to deal with the gay issue in my church and there are some pretty rabid people when it comes to having gays serve in church or anywhere else. It’s mostly an age issue. The younger people don’t have a problem with gays but the older you get the more resistance you get from the congregation. If you want to make the whole issue simple, the fact is that these people want it to be 1955 when gays didn’t exist and everybody knew “their place” in society. I guess freedom is too disorderly for them.
