Atlanta, GA – The Casey Cagle for Lt. Governor campaign announced today that it raised over $100,000 on Friday, March 31st despite having only a single day to raise funds. The $100,000 Cagle raised came solely in response to phone calls and emails during the day on Friday.

Friday was the last day of the upcoming reporting period, and the only day in that period where Cagle was allowed to raise money following the conclusion of the legislative session. By contrast, Cagle’s opponent – Ralph Reed — is a lobbyist who is not elected to any office and has therefore been allowed to raise funds without any legal restrictions for the entire year.

I could pretty much stop with the headline. But then some of you might get the wrong idea. Illegal immigration cannot be stopped. Not by the U.S. government patrolling our borders. Not by the giant money sucking behemoth that is our federal government. The INS lacks resources, manpower, infrastructure and focus. But even if it got all four of these in line, it would not be able to stop illegal aliens from crossing the Rio Grande. Our government lacks any kind of political will to stop it.

Okay…now the tit-for-tat letter battle this week between the Casey Cagle and Ralph Reed campaigns has gotten EXTREMELY interesting. To recap, first there was a letter authored by Casey Cagle printed last week in the Savannah Morning News. Then the Reed campaign fired-back with a letter of their own last Monday.
