   The AJC is reporting that the GOP has the line up for the general election that they wanted all along. Maybe they forgot to tell the candidates that ran in the primary about this!

   I was looking at the results of the primary run off and realized that turn out was horrible.

   I voted absentee in the primary election and will probably vote absentee in the general election.

   It occurred to me that if I voted by absentee ballot in the primary I should not have to reapply to vote absentee in the primary run off. The county should just send me a primary run off ballot.

   This would most likely help increase voter turn out and we could use the funds allotted for the run off anyway.

   Thoughts…..

   IIRC, turnout is always bad. I expect turnout to be low in Nov. too.

   I just wasted an the past hour of my life watching Bill O’Reilly bray like a mule over why we should dump the “probable cause” clause of the 4th Amendment and replace it with “reasonable suspicion”. During his final segment, he went as far to say that 4th Amendment rights are a joke, and as long as we’re not terrorists, we wouldn’t have anything to worry about.

   He also compared us to Great Britian, saying that the citizens are far more secure in Great Britian and haven’t had to sacrifice any liberty. Yes, this is the same Great Britian where private citizens CANNOT own a gun.

   What kills me the most, is that he had the gall to claim that “most Americans would agree with this.” But he said, “Liberals would never let it happen”. Since when did wanting to preserve the 4th Amendment make anyone a liberal?

   Is O’Reilly right? Is this how “most Americans” think?

   I’m sorry for the rant, but this really pisses me off. I cannot believe he compared us to Great Britain in terms of civil liberties. This is the same Great Britian that WE BROKE AWAY FROM IN 1776! Bill also said that if Thomas Jefferson were alive today, he would feel differently about his “don’t sacrifice a little bit of liberty for a little bit of security” quote. (Although that quote was made by Benjamin Franklin)

   Heard that Gina Carr (attempting to qualify as an independent to run against Charlice Byrd for state house), who turned in some 1800 signatures and only needed 1200 verified, came up 75 validated signatures short. I predicted this earlier since the election chairman in Cherokee is a big supporter of the Byrd thugs.

   No word if Gina will contest this or not. I hope she does. I cannot believe there are 600 signatures on there that are not legit.

   Lets hope she does fight the and gets her name on the ballot. I wonder how they pulled 600 signatures to find they were not legit.

   I must point this out and the Cherokee Tribune will not print my letter. I sent a letter saying I supported the efforts by the 3 groups for foiling the plot to blow up 10 airliners and securing the arrest of 30 suspects.

   I also point out and make the statement the growth of Cherokee County is above the 3% to 6% and the developers are starting to push the boundaries placing subdivisions near lakes and streams and leaving no growth on the outer edges. The Board either has no rules or they are not added stipulations to help construct schools and widen the roads and build public service buildings able to handle the rapid growth. The one lane added on to 575 to “help traffic” between Towne Lake and 92 will be a non factor in one year.
   I will work when elected to slow the growth near the waterways and include laws protecting the homeowners that the developer have an escrow account for future repairs to the homes due to neglect and one for the county for widening the roads, parks, or public safety. If the Board does not stipulate the developers work with the local officials to relieve the future burdens on the community.

    I thought it was Scotland yard who did the whole thing. I know there was an informant in Great Brittain wasn’t there?

    I also thought that the Sec of State was the one who verified signatures, not the local political parties.

    These papers in Cherokee county are a joke.

    I understand how my comment looked odd regarding the signatures. I meant how did they get 600 fake names wonder if people just signed it or what not. I read she went over the limit to make room for names to be disqualifed but 600 names thats almost the same number of people who showed up for the 4th of July parade. I guess people thought she was in district for which they lived.

    It was a overdsight on my part for Scotland Yard and I apoligize and changed my letter to the editor. Once again you looked out for me maybe I need you on my staff. How do you feel regarding light rail and buses.

    I’m not an expert on these kind of things but I think that you could get large numbers of illegal signatures by being nothing more than sloppy and careless. If the people getting the sigs didn’t watch who was signing then that could be a problem. Also, I think that in order for a signature to be valid, the signee must be a registered voter. Many people may claim to be registered who are not, or might write down the wrong address etc. Gathering signatures can be a real crapshoot.

    There needs to be some kind of rail or mass transport to ease the traffic situation. It will not work by expanding traffic lanes. They fill up way too quickly. And then you have the eminent domain issue to deal with. I would like to see some sort of El like they have in Chicago. I don’t know if they could be built above the existing roadwork or not. I’m not an engineer and don’t pretend to be one.
