I’m Not Sure He’s Right, But Michael Moore Sounds Coherent In This Letter…

Bill Simon, November 29th, 2006

I do NOT want to see any posts ranting about Michael Moore‘s past work or how lefty-liberal he is.

Please READ his post from his blog about what he now thinks on Iraq and comment on whether he brings any good or really bad points up:

Michael Moore

Illegal Immigrants: Drive Them Out or Make Them Pay To Stay?

Bill Simon, November 22nd, 2006

There’s a story in today’s AJC about the forum held last night by the Cherokee County Commission.

Now, in the print edition of the article, there is a side-by-side comparison between what a legal resident of America thinks and what an illegal resident of America thinks about the issue.

The illegal guy (named Martin Basilio) stated that he figures he spends most of the money he earns on “telephone bills, rent, electricity, water, and food.”

And, Basilio says he then SENDS money to his parents in Mexico, and “when money is good” he sends them about $700 every two weeks.

I believe the real hangup to the illegals’ problem is not that they are breaking the law of citizenship per se, but that they are using medical resources that are paid for by taxpaying Americans. And, perhaps if the illegals would pay for their own healthcare and insurance, then maybe the “anti-illegal immigrant” sentiment might not be as high.

What do you think?

Welcome, Deep Throat!

Bill Simon, November 19th, 2006

There will be a new front-page poster on PoliticalVine.com.

His/Her name is “Deep Throat.” Deep Throat wishes to remain quite anonymous as his/her livelihood depends on certain Georgia state elected officials…and he/she has sworn me to the utmost secrecy as to his/her identity in exchange for tidbits of political juiciness that I am allowed to print.

So, I say welcome to Deep Throat!

Speaker-elect Pelosi Throws Her Weight…And Stumbles

Bill Simon, November 16th, 2006

Rumors have it that even with Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) endorsement of John Murtha (D-PA) for the new Majority Leader position in the House, Murtha went down by a vote of 149 to 86 in favor of electing Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) as Majority Leader.

Apparently, Murtha’s mouth doesn’t carry-over as strongly among his colleagues as it does in the media.

There The Government Goes Again…Or, Is It A Good Thing In This Case?

Bill Simon, November 15th, 2006

Cherokee County, Georgia law enforcement is going after landlords that rent to illegal aliens in an effort to enforce laws the federal government refuses to do.

The landlords will be responsible for “proving” each of their tenants is a legal resident of the U.S. or else face a fine or possible suspension of their operating licenses.

Question to ponder: If you enforce this on only one class of rental properties, don’t you have to enforce it on ALL rental properties? That is, EVERY property that leases/rents to ANYONE (whether they are of Hispanic origin or not), should have to prove their renters/leasees are legal U.S. citizens.

Our Navy Used To Be The Best…But, Under Bush & Rumsfeld, It Appears To Take A Dive…

Bill Simon, November 13th, 2006

This is rather disturbing:A diesel-powered Chinese sub stalked the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk aircraft carrier for who knows how long before being stumbled upon by a “routine surveillance flight.”

Not a “nukuler” sub, but a DIESEL-POWERED sub. Great…just great.

This Guy Has The Solution! We’ll ALL Become Illegal Aliens!

Bill Simon, November 13th, 2006

[NOTE:This is a supposed memo someone wrote to Senator Paul Sarbanes]

SUBJ: Becoming Illegal (From a Maryland resident to his Senator)

The Honorable Paul S. Sarbanes
309 Hart Senate Office Building Washington DC, 20510

Dear Senator Sarbanes,

As a native Marylander, and excellent customer of the Internal Revenue Service, I am writing to ask for your assistance. I have contacted the Department of Homeland Security in an effort to determine the process for becoming an illegal alien and they referred me to you.

Shirley Franklin: Let’s Rub Her Nose Into Her Mess

Bill Simon, November 9th, 2006

The Atlanta Business Chronicle has an online survey asking site visitors if you believe Mayor Shirley Franklin went “over the line” in her recording of their 30-second rendition of “We Hate Whiteys And So Should Every Other Brotha and Sista In Atlanta” radio commercial in support of Fulton County Commissioner-elect John Eaves.

If you missed hearing the commercial, here it is online:
Racist Radio Commercial from Congressman John Lewis, Andy Young, and Mayor Shirley Franklin

If you want to vote on whether Franklin went over the line, AND give any comments you wish to the ABC, go here:

Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin Race-Baiting

Here’s a question to ponder: WHAT should the Metro Chamber of Commerce do in response? Continue to suck-up to the racist mo’ fo like they continue to do, or act like they have some testosterone?

And, what about something out of the mouth of Georgia Chamber of Commerce Chairman George Israel? He had a lot to say about Judge Hunstein in the past few weeks, but where is he on Shirley Franklin? Is it still a “kissy-kissy, wimpy-wimpy” relationship, or does he have any balls to issue a letter of disgust?

I won’t hold my breath on George Israel.

Rush Limbaugh: A Man With No Character Worth A Flip..

Bill Simon, November 9th, 2006

Just to let you know, Rush Limbaugh was the very reason I became a Republican in the early 1990s.

I had voted for Ronald Reagan in 1980 and 1984, and, I think I recall voting for Bush, Sr. in 1988. But, despite my votes, I felt like a liberal. And then, someone introduced me to Rush Limbaugh’s radio show.

I LOVED it. He used logic and clear argument to make issues crystal clear and he did it with humor.

And, I was a pretty faithful listener of Rush’s up until I started my own writing and opining via The Political Vine in mid-2000.

But, now, in Rush’s OWN WORDS ON HIS WEBSITE, he says this: “People have been asking me all day, ‘How do you feel, Rush?’ I feel liberated, ladies and gentlemen, because I don’t have to carry the water for people that I think don’t deserve to have their water carried.”

This, Ladies and Gentlemen, is clearly a WTF moment.

If you HAVE any sense of character and integrity, YOU DON’T CARRY WATER for people who don’t deserve it!

Thus, my beef with the GOP for a number of years. As they’ve drifted more and more in the direction of theocratic statism, I have not only refused to follow them, but I have stood on my little place in the cyber-world and screamed in protest as loud as possible.

And, when I got tired of screaming about it, I simply kept my mouth shut and stopped writing.

In any case, Rush demonstrates he has no character of any substance if he now “feels liberated.” Were his hands tied before? Would his ratings have fallen to the bottom had he been more critical of the President and the Congress? “No” and “no” are the answers.

As far as I’m concerned, people like Rush Limbaugh possess no degree of integrity worth a flip for me to listen to, admire, or even acknowledge as someone worthy of my time.

AMF, Rush!
